Just a few savings that can be done daily/weekly

Most of these are known (common sense) and some I really hadnt thought of..just sharing the info

1. Buy big and freeze
2. Get the family pack even if you are cooking for one or two...turn the leftovers into lunches and dinners
3. Use energy wisely.. when you already have the oven on, throw in some sweet potatoes or potatoes ..bake now, eat later.
4. Regulate your fridge...38* is fine.
5. Buy big jugs of oil and put them in squirt bottles...you use less, save money and less calories.
6. Try powdered or evaporated milk in recipes and save your cartoned milk for drinking.

Any other ideas??

To save money we started using cloth napkins about 6 months ago. I love it too! It's fancier to me AND it saves extra garbage going in our landfills.

Also, I have become my Mother....Growing up, we RARELY used the eletric clothes dryer (it had to have rained for 40 days and 40 nights rendering our clothes line useless before we could crank up the dryer). When we did use the dryer, once it buzzed you dropped whatever you were doing and RAN to the laundry room to empty the dryer. The longer you waited the more power it wasted. Once I was on my own, I used to let the dryer buzz, and buzz and buzz and sometimes wouldn't even empty it until the next day. Then I would have to do a 10 minute dewrinkle cycle to fluff the clothes up. Now, to save electricity, I immediatley go empty it. Thanks Mom!

Isnt it funny how we have returned to the ways of thinking for the most part of our parents. From the way we shop, clean and even down to the way we feel about raising our kids? lol....I have to admit..I am probably the strictest parent in our area....maybe I am wrong, but dangit...its my JOB..LOL

Here are10 more tips from me

1. Cut out the soda and drink more water! You'd be surprised how much you will save.
2. Go over your grocery list. Try buying more off-brands. Most of the ones I've tried are just as good as their more expensive counterparts.
3. Get movies from the library instead of renting them.
4. Same with books, borrow instead of buy. We usually only read them once anyway.
5. Go on a picnic instead of going to the restaurant. It is more fun and much cheaper!
6. Do your laundry at night. The rates are cheaper.
7. Buy your holiday decorations AFTER the holiday. You can save up to 75% or more.
8. Turn down your heat a couple degrees more at night and throw on an extra blanket.
9. Turn unused stuff into money. If you have a gift you haven't used or that shirt you bought and never wore, take them back to the store. You might not get full price, but some is better than none.
10. Make windowsill or container gardens and grow herbs and fresh vegetables.
